Mounted Police Officer and Boy in a City Park
Coloring guide
A cheerful police officer in a peaked cap, uniform shirt and tie rides a friendly smiling horse, while a little boy on the sidewalk waves hello. The horse has a bridle, reins and a chest strap with a round ring, and its long mane and tail flow in loose curves. The park behind them is drawn with big rounded trees and bushes and a tall street lamp on the right, and two city buildings with rows of windows peek over the greenery. The boy is dressed simply in a t-shirt, shorts and sneakers. Grab this free printable for a classroom project or a weekend craft. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background areas: color the leafy trees and bushes with light green, and fill the tall and short buildings with sky blue and sand beige.
- 2Color the horse all over with caramel brown, then use chestnut brown for its mane and tail and chocolate brown for the harness straps and reins.
- 3Fill the officer's uniform with steel blue and midnight blue for the trousers, and color the cap with black on the brim and band.
- 4Color the boy's shirt red and his shorts bright blue, then add peach to the faces and hands, leaving the eye whites and the horse's muzzle white.
- 5Add the golden yellow badges and harness ring, the cream yellow lamp light, and the dark gray hooves and sidewalk details.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the horse's belly and the tree trunk to give the scene more depth.
