Open Matryoshka Doll with Little Dolls Inside

The top half of a large matryoshka has been lifted off, and a smaller doll peeks out of the bottom half with a happy smile. Two more little dolls stand on the ground in the lower corners, one on each side. All of them have rosy round cheeks, big sparkly eyes and a headscarf tied in a bow at the chin. Flowers and leaves decorate the big top half. The bottom half has one large flower in the center with leaves curling around it, and each smaller doll has a flower on her tummy too. A simple curved ground line runs beneath them. Roomy shapes and bold outlines suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the printable PDF is easy to grab for a quiet afternoon. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big top doll headscarf and the base doll body in cherry red, leaving the flower petals on the base white.
- 2Fill the wooden stand under the dolls with light tan and color the middle blue doll's scarf in sky blue.
- 3Paint the leaves on the base, the top doll's side leaves and the left doll's dress in leaf green.
- 4Color the right doll's dress in violet purple and the bands of the scarves in amber for a warm touch.
- 5Add golden yellow to the bows, the rim of the base and the flower center, and use light yellow for the top doll's bow center.
- 6Finish with chestnut brown hair, peach skin faces, rose pink cheeks and a coral red smile, leaving the eye whites and flower petals white. Optional: add a little shading along the edges for depth.
