A cheerful parrot with a big curved beak, a round eye and fluffy head feathers grips a thick branch with both feet. Its layered wing feathers and two long tail feathers sweep down the left side of the page. Right beside it, a bunch of bananas hangs from the branch, tips at the bottom. Big tropical leaves with bold center veins fill the background, which gives lots of shapes to color. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big leaves: color the large left leaf, the bottom leaf and the lower left leaf in leaf green and dark green, leaving the white background gaps and the top right leaf white.
- 2Fill the parrot's chest and long tail feathers in scarlet red, keeping the tail tip blue for later.
- 3Color the wings with sky blue on the upper wing and royal blue on the lower and middle wing, then add golden yellow on the wing feathers in the middle.
- 4Paint the bunch of bananas and the beak in golden yellow, then color the banana stems and branch in lime green and leaf green.
- 5Color the feet in orange and the blue tail tip in sky blue. Optional: add a little darker shade along the edges of the bananas and leaves for depth.
