Two big-eyed penguin Hatchimals tumble around together in the snow in this winter scene. The one on the left wears a striped pom-pom beanie and leans back with a foot in the air. The one on the right has a fluffy tuft of feathers on its head and a long striped scarf wrapped around its neck. Both have decorated wings with swirly patterns. Snowflakes fill the space around them: a large one at the bottom left, a small ornate one at the bottom center, another at the bottom right and a fancy one in the top right corner. Wide stripes on the hat and scarf are easy for small hands, and the fine wing patterns keep older kids busy. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big blue areas: fill the left penguin's body and tail with sky blue, then add ocean blue to the darker back and shadow areas.
- 2Color the chick's body, head and back in lemon yellow, and fill its feet and mitten with golden yellow.
- 3Fill the penguin's belly, the hat stripes and the chick's face with cream white, leaving the eye whites and any highlights white.
- 4Add bright red to the hats, pompoms and wing tips, then use brick red and warm brown for the stripes on the chick's scarf.
- 5Finish the small details with amber orange on the beaks and feet, coral pink on the beak tips, and pale blue on the snowflakes, leaving the outlined snowflakes white. Optional: add a little extra shading along the edges of the bodies for depth.
