Perched on a branch, a cheerful parrot has a big curved beak and a round, bright eye, with long tail feathers hanging straight down below. Its wing is drawn in layered rows of scalloped feathers, and a small tuft of crest feathers sits on its head. Next to it, a large hibiscus with a long stamen blooms on the branch, surrounded by big split monstera-style leaves and one smooth pointed leaf. Small numbers from 1 to 10 mark the areas, so kids can follow a color key and match as they go. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the parrot's body and head in bright red, leaving the eye shine and small leaf veins white.
- 2Color the big leaves on the left and the lower right in forest green, and the leaves behind the hibiscus in light green.
- 3Fill the wing with sky blue and royal blue bands, and the yellow feather bands in lemon yellow and golden yellow.
- 4Color the hibiscus petals bright red and the stamen light green, then paint the branch chocolate brown.
- 5Add the tail feathers in sky blue and bright red, and the claws and beak tip in amber and golden yellow.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes along the leaf edges and wing feathers to make the drawing pop.
