Picnic Blanket Spread for a Camping Day
Coloring guide
A wicker picnic basket with a checkered cloth draped over its edge sits in the middle of the page, surrounded by everything you'd need for an outdoor meal. Three round apples with leaves rest on the left, and a plate of triangle-cut sandwiches sits in front. On the right, a tall pitcher decorated with flowers stands next to two cups. All of it is laid out on a checkered blanket in the grass. Grass tufts, bushes and tiny flowers fill the background, and a smiling butterfly flutters along a dotted path at the top. Large shapes and clear lines suit preschoolers and early elementary kids building pencil control. Try red and green apples, a golden brown basket and a bright blue pitcher so the flowers show up. A cheerful free printable for a summer afternoon or the classroom. More like this: explore the Camping, For Girls and For Kids coloring page collections.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the picnic blanket squares tomato red, leaving every other square white, so the checkered pattern shows clearly.
- 2Fill the basket weave with golden tan, then add caramel brown on the darker lower rows and shadowy edges.
- 3Color the lid cloth with salmon pink and peach pink, leaving the small squares on the cloth white.
- 4Color the three apples bright red, and paint the plate baby blue while the sandwich bread gets pale yellow and the filling stays white.
- 5Color the pitcher cream with a baby blue band, paint the glass sky blue, and fill the mugs with golden yellow and amber yellow.
- 6Finish the butterfly with rose pink wings and sky blue spots, then color the bushes and grass grass green. Optional: add a little caramel brown under the basket for depth.
