Puppy Chasing a Striped Ball Through the Grass

Coloring guide
This happy pup bounds across the page with its tongue hanging out and its big floppy ears flapping. Its bright eyes are locked on a round striped ball sitting on the ground ahead. There's a collar with a round tag around its neck, a fluffy tail curled up behind, and one front paw stretching toward the toy. Little tufts of grass are scattered around, giving kids a few easy spots to color. Thick, clean outlines and large open shapes make it a good choice for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or chunky markers. Golden yellow or warm brown would suit the fur, with a red tag and rainbow stripes on the ball so it pops against green grass. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the puppy's head and ears with pale tan, leaving the eye whites and the nose area for later.
- 2Color the body, front legs and paws with golden tan, including the strip just below the collar.
- 3Use chocolate brown for the fluffy tail and sky blue for the top and bottom parts of the ball.
- 4Add bright red stripes across the middle of the ball and color the collar bright red.
- 5Color the tongue soft pink and the round collar tag bright yellow, keeping the eye whites white. Optional: add a little darker shading on the lower body to make the puppy look fluffier.
