Crosswalk Day: Police Officer Stopping Traffic for Kids
Coloring guide
In the middle of a zebra crossing, a smiling officer holds up one hand to stop traffic while her other hand rests on the hood of a car that's pulled up. Two kids are walking across in front of her, a boy in shorts and a girl in a skirt with a ponytail. Both have backpacks and happy faces. The officer wears a peaked cap with a badge, a shirt with chest pockets, a shoulder radio and a utility belt. A leafy tree and a few bushes stand by the road behind them. It's a handy page for chatting about road safety and why we stop, look and wait. Red and yellow backpacks would pop nicely against the crosswalk. Print it free as a PDF for home or school. Add this to your Police Officer coloring page collection, alongside For Girls and For Kids.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- medium gray
- denim blue
- skin tone
- grass green
- bright blue
- sky blue
- light gray
- light brown
- burnt orange
- golden yellow
- lavender purple
- pale blue
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: leave the sky and crosswalk stripes white, and color the road and sidewalk medium gray with light gray for the curb.
- 2Fill the trees and bushes with grass green and color the tree trunk light brown, keeping the white stripe of sky between the leaves.
- 3Color the police car bright blue and the windows pale blue, then add the officer's shirt in sky blue and her trousers in denim blue.
- 4Use skin tone for the faces, hands and ears, dark chocolate for the officer's hair and the boy's hair, and burnt orange for the girl's hair.
- 5Color the boy's shirt golden yellow, his shorts bright blue and his backpack forest green, then give the girl a soft pink top, lavender purple skirt and hot pink backpack.
- 6Optional: add a few darker lines of midnight blue or charcoal to the officer's cap and shoes, and leave the eye whites, car headlight and socks white for a clean finish.
