Praying Boy at the Cross, a Good Friday Page
Coloring guide
A young boy kneels in the grass with his hands together, his head bowed and a gentle smile on his face. A simple plank-textured wooden cross stands in front of him, with a small leafy sprout at its base. Daisy-like flowers with round centers fill the foreground and both sides of the page, tufts of grass dot the ground, and rounded bushes sit behind him. On the right is a slim-trunked tree with scalloped branches and a few leaves drifting down. He wears a long-sleeved sweater with a round collar and plain pants, which are easy to color in. Thick, clear outlines make this a good free printable for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Soft browns work for the cross and trunk, and bright yellow or pink petals will make the quiet figure stand out in the garden. Love this Good Friday coloring page? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big blue areas: fill the sweater body, sleeves and cuffs with light blue.
- 2Color the kneeling pants and legs with steel blue, and the left shoe with dark blue, leaving the shoe sole white.
- 3Fill the boy's face, neck, ear and praying hands with peach, keeping the eye whites and little highlights white.
- 4Color the boy's hair and the tree trunk dark brown, then give the wooden cross a light brown finish.
- 5Use forest green for the bushes, tree leaves and plant leaves, and lime green for the grass tufts and some flower stems.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the sweater folds and the pants with the same blue, and leave the flower petals and tree crown white.
