Here's a happy raccoon standing up on the sand with a big striped beach ball squished against its tummy. Its eyes are wide and sparkly, and the smile says it all. Wavy lines in the background show where the sea meets the horizon, and two puffy clouds drift above. Down by its feet there's a little sandcastle with a flag on top, a pail with a handle, a scallop shell, a spiral seashell and a starfish. That long ringed tail curls out to the left, so there are lots of stripes to fill in. Gray and charcoal work nicely for the fur and tail, and the beach ball looks great with red, yellow and blue panels. It's a free printable that suits preschoolers and early elementary kids who enjoy a summer scene packed with small details. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the raccoon's body, head, and tail in warm gray, leaving the cream muzzle, chin, and belly areas for later.
- 2Color the ocean and the beach ball's blue panels in sky blue, and fill the sand and the sandcastle top in sand yellow.
- 3Fill the beach ball with bright yellow, green, lime green, and red stripes, leaving the small white shine near the top.
- 4Color the raccoon's dark face mask, ears, paws, and tail bands in charcoal gray, and add soft pink inside the ears.
- 5Paint the bucket in sky blue with a pale blue band, then add coral orange to the starfish and the flag in red.
- 6Optional: Finish with the seashells in soft pink and tangerine, and leave the eye whites, clouds, and ball shine white.
