Rainy Day Duck with an Umbrella and Rain Boots

Raindrops are falling all over this page, but the smiling duckling in the shallow puddle doesn't mind. It holds a big open umbrella with one wing and wears a pair of rubber rain boots. A tuft of feathers sits on its head, and it has big round eyes and an open beak. The umbrella has a curved handle and small round tips on each panel. Ripples spread across the puddle wherever drops land, and little grass tufts sit on both sides of the water. Shapes are large and clean, so preschoolers and early elementary kids still building pencil control should do well with it. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the duck's body, head, wing, and tail feathers golden yellow, leaving the small gap beside the neck white.
- 2Fill the umbrella's top and tip with golden yellow, the left panels with tangerine orange and cherry red, the top right panel with leaf green, and the right panel with royal blue.
- 3Color the rain boots cherry red, the duck's hand golden yellow, the umbrella handle bright blue, and the shaft light gray.
- 4Give the beak and feet bright orange and the open mouth soft pink, keeping the teeth and eye shines white.
- 5Fill the pond with light blue and the puddles and ripples with pale aqua, leaving the gap between the legs white and the grass uncolored.
- 6Optional: add a slightly darker yellow along the duck's lower body and a darker blue on the water edges for depth.
