Rearing Unicorns Beneath a Full Moon and Shooting Stars

Up on its hind legs on a rocky, flower-dotted hill, a smiling unicorn shows off a long flowing mane and a big swooshing tail. Its spiral horn rises from the forehead while a large cratered full moon glows behind its head. Shooting stars with long streaking tails and plenty of small stars fill the night sky, and soft clouds lie along the horizon. Further down are mountain ranges, a winding lake or river and a forest of pine trees, with little daisy-style flowers and grass tufts up front. There's enough detail for different skill levels. Rainbow stripes on the mane and tail and deep blues and purples in the sky will make the moon and shooting stars stand out. Nice for a rainy afternoon, a calm-down time at school or a bedtime craft. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the lake and the blue mountains with sky blue and light blue, leaving the unicorn's body and chest white.
- 2Color the hills, pine trees and bushes with grass green, pine green, forest green and lime green.
- 3Paint the unicorn's horn golden yellow and its hooves rose pink, with the raised front hoof in warm gray.
- 4Add the mane and tail in rainbow stripes: coral, golden yellow, orange, turquoise, royal blue, purple, hot pink and peach.
- 5Color the rocks in slate gray and the pale clouds in pale aqua, leaving the moon, stars and flower centers white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading on the tail and mane with a deeper shade of the same color for depth.
