Rooster and Hen Eating Corn With Baby Chicks

A large rooster bends low to peck at an ear of corn lying on the ground, with his long curved tail feathers sweeping up behind him. A hen stands just behind him with her head tipped down, and a tiny chick pecks at the dirt near the rooster's feet. Two fluffy ducklings wander nearby, one standing at the right edge and one at the lower right. Leafy branches hang across the top, and small bushes and tufts of grass sit in the background. A second corn cob is partly visible in the bottom corner. Try giving the rooster tail feathers in a mix of colors, then talk with kids about how roosters, hens, chicks, and ducklings look different from one another. This printable page also works well for a farm unit.
