Runaway Wagon Leaves a Stout Man Sprawled in the Dirt

A stout man with a mustache sits sprawled on the dirt path, propped on one hand with his legs stretched out and his mouth open in surprise. He wears a wide-brimmed round hat, a long cape, rolled-up sleeves, suspenders and big boots. Behind him a horse pulls a covered wagon down a grassy trail, kicking up puffy dust clouds near the wheels. A large tree trunk, tufts of grass and a few leafy plants fill out the background. The big shapes in the cape and wagon cover are easy for small hands, and the dust clouds and grass add finer detail for older kids. Try soft browns and tans for the dusty road, then talk about what might have made the man tumble. This printable page also works well as a story starter for creative writing.
