Scarecrow and Crow in a Fall Cornfield With Pumpkins

This scarecrow grins from his wooden post with both arms stretched out, and a little crow perches on his right hand. His floppy straw hat has a crosshatch pattern, and he also wears a knotted neckerchief and patched overalls with a stitched front pocket and two button straps. Straw pokes out of the hat, sleeves and pant legs, and his nose is a small patch. Tall corn stalks with ripe ears fill the background on both sides, and three pumpkins of different sizes plus a few leaves sit along the bottom. Each patch on the overalls could get its own pattern, like polka dots, plaid or stripes. Golden yellow straw, deep orange pumpkins and a dark purple or blue crow will stand out nicely against the green corn. It's a free printable. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the pumpkins, the shirt and both sleeves with pumpkin orange, leaving the small highlight spots white.
- 2Color the face with peach skin, then fill the crow's body and head with charcoal gray and its beak with golden yellow.
- 3Fill the overalls with denim blue, then add the cherry red patch and the green patches with leaf green.
- 4Color the straw hat, its hair and the hand straw with wheat tan, and paint the hat band with dark brown.
- 5Add the cherry red neckerchief, then color the corn leaves and stalks with leaf green and the cob with golden yellow.
- 6Optional: leave the background, the grass and the crow's wing highlights white, and add a little darker shading under the pumpkins with caramel brown for depth.
