A cheerful baby sea turtle glides along with its head turned our way, showing big shiny eyes and a wide smile. The shell is split into large sections that are simple to color, and the flippers have little spotted patterns for older kids who want more detail. Three small striped fish swim close by, and round bubbles float up around the turtle. Along the sandy seabed at the bottom you'll find branching coral, wavy seaweed, a couple of tube-shaped sponges and a few pebbles. Soft greens and golden browns look good on the shell, while orange and yellow fish stand out against a light blue background. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big shell sections chocolate brown, leaving the thin white lines between them.
- 2Fill the outer shell border and the fish stripes with golden yellow and bright yellow, keeping the fish's stripe edges white where they meet.
- 3Color the head, neck, and shoulders pale lime, then add leaf green spots on the flippers and head.
- 4Use forest green for the darker flipper spots and the seaweed, and coral red for the reef on the right and bottom.
- 5Color the fish: tangerine orange for the top fish, sky blue and bright blue for the fish on the right and bottom, and leave the eye whites white.
- 6Optional: Add a little light gray to the rocks and lavender purple to the coral tubes, and use a darker shade at the edges of the shell for depth.
