Big-Eyed Seahorse Next to a Crab on a Spiral Shell

Beside a large striped spiral shell, a big-eyed seahorse curls its tail while a smiling little crab peeks over the top and waves one claw. The seahorse has a ruffled crest down its head and back, a fan-shaped fin, a long snout and a belly with curved bands, plus dots on its head and neck. Tall wavy seaweed stands on both sides, round bubbles float overhead, and the sandy seafloor has a few smooth pebbles and tiny specks of sand. The shapes are large and the lines clean, so preschoolers with chunky crayons can handle it, and older kids get plenty of stripes to work on. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the spiral shell with bright blue and pale ice blue, alternating the stripes so they follow the swirl.
- 2Color the seahorse's head, body edges and curled tail golden yellow, and fill the light body bands with light cream yellow.
- 3Paint the dorsal crest, side fins and crab claws orange, and color the crab's head coral red and its legs tomato red, leaving the eye shines white.
- 4Add the seaweed in grass green, the bubbles in pale aqua and the rocks in gray, keeping the background white.
- 5Optional: add a little darker shading along one side of the shell and the seahorse's body to make it look more rounded.
