One Big Six-Armed Snowflake With a Hexagon Center

Coloring guide
One large snowflake takes up the middle of the page, drawn with bold, smooth lines that small hands can follow easily. A little hexagon sits at the center, and six thick arms stretch out from it. The four diagonal arms each finish in a forked, branch-like tip. The top and bottom arms end in rounded points with two short side branches. Close to the center, the left and right sides have chunky, angled shapes. Nothing else is on the page, so the snowflake stands alone on clean white paper. Preschoolers and early elementary kids should do well with it, and it's a handy free printable for winter bulletin boards or classroom crafts. You could color the hexagon deep blue, then give each arm a different icy shade like light blue, lavender or silver glitter. This fits right in with our Snowflakes coloring pages — see also Christmas Lights and Santa Claus.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- sky blue
- pale ice blue
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the large six-armed snowflake body in sky blue, coloring each arm and its side branches evenly, leaving the outline untouched.
- 2Fill the small hexagon in the center with pale ice blue so it stands out as the snowflake's core.
- 3Keep the background white around the snowflake so the shape pops off the page.
- 4Optional: Add a few soft strokes of pale ice blue along the edges of the arms to suggest a gentle glow.
