A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the wooden barn walls and the horse's body and head with caramel brown, working in smooth strokes.
- 2Color the horse's mane, forelock, and tail with butter yellow, leaving small gaps so the strands still look separate.
- 3Fill the bucket with steel blue, then color the pitchfork head and handle with slate gray.
- 4Color the horse's hooves with charcoal gray and the inner parts of both ears and the nose with soft pink.
- 5Add golden yellow to the little hay tufts peeking out at the far left and right edges.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker brown along the underside of the horse's body for a soft shadow.
