Sleepy Raccoon Napping in a Hollow Log

Coloring guide
Eyes closed and a tiny smile on its face, a sleepy raccoon curls up inside a hollow log with its chin resting on both front paws. The big striped tail wraps across the front of the log, and its bold rings are easy to color. Two feathery fern leaves, one at the upper left and one at the lower right, frame the scene along with three spotted mushrooms and some grass tufts across the bottom. Lines are thick and clean and the shapes are large, so it works for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Mushroom spots and tail rings are good practice for careful coloring. Soft grays and browns suit the raccoon, warm brown suits the bark, and bright red mushroom caps add a nice pop. It's a free printable that makes a calm activity for quiet time or a nap-time theme. - 1Start with the big log: fill the outer rim and the end stump with light tan, and the long trunk on the right with warm brown.
- 2Color the hollow inside the log with dark brown, leaving the rounded edges neat.
- 3Fill the raccoon's head and back with medium gray, and color the muzzle cream, leaving the eye whites and the little highlight spots white.
- 4Use charcoal gray for the eye masks, the paws, and the dark bands on the striped tail, then fill the tail stripes in medium gray.
- 5Color the ferns and grass with leaf green, and the mushroom caps with tomato red, leaving the white spots and the stems cream.
- 6Optional: add a little soft pink inside the raccoon's ears and a darker red shade on the right mushroom for extra depth.
