Tucked into bed, a tired little robot rests its head on a big fluffy pillow with the blanket pulled up to its belly. Heavy-lidded eyes and a small frown say it's ready to sleep. It has a square head with a ball-tipped antenna, round ear pieces, and a screen-like panel on its chest, and both hands grip the top of the blanket. Behind the bed, a four-pane window shows a crescent moon and several stars in the night sky. Round knobs sit on the headboard posts. Bold lines and large shapes suit preschoolers and early elementary kids. Soft blues and purples for the blanket and silvery gray for the robot look calm, and you can leave the moon and stars yellow to stand out. A free printable that makes a good quiet bedtime activity. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the robot's head, body and both arms with sky blue, leaving the eye whites and the eye shine spots white.
- 2Fill the blanket and the lower edges of the bed with royal blue, then add the chest panel in the same blue.
- 3Color the pillows and the bed base at the bottom with cream, so the bed looks soft and light.
- 4Use warm brown for the headboard, the bedposts and their round tops, then fill the window frame panes with navy blue.
- 5Color the headphones yellow and their dark cushions with charcoal gray, plus the antenna ball and the moon and stars in golden yellow.
- 6Optional: Add light gray to the robot's hands and a pale blue strip on the top of the head for a little extra depth.
