Forest Walk With a Friendly Bear and Mushrooms

Coloring guide
A big, fluffy bear with a friendly smile walks straight toward you down a woodland path in this detailed forest scene. Tall pines and thick trunks frame the page, while a lake and a mountain peak sit far back under a few puffy clouds. A small bird perches on a branch at the upper left, and a woodpecker clings to a trunk at the upper right. Ferns, leafy plants and rocks cover the ground, with fallen logs and a cluster of mushrooms in the bottom corners. Shaggy fur and plenty of leaves give older kids who like fine detail lots to do. Try chocolate and honey browns on the bear and bright red mushroom caps that stand out. This free printable PDF is worth printing a few extra copies of. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the bear's whole body, head, ears and legs with brown, leaving the muzzle area for later.
- 2Color the bear's muzzle and the dirt path and small ground patches with tan.
- 3Paint the pine trees, bushes and leafy plants with grass green, leaf green, forest green and lime green, and shade the tree trunks and fallen logs with dark brown.
- 4Color the mountain and lake with sky blue and light blue, and add light blue to the clouds, but keep the sky background white.
- 5Add red to the mushroom caps, cream to the mushroom stems, and gray to the rocks, leaving the bird's cheek white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker brown strokes along the bear's fur edges for depth.
