Sunflower Garden With a Flying Bee

Coloring guide
High above a patch of sunflowers, a cheerful little bee with big sparkly eyes, long lashes and an open-mouth smile zooms across the sky. Its round head has two curly antennae, and the striped body, two leaf-shaped wings and tiny legs are all drawn with thick lines that are easy to follow. Five sunflowers of different sizes bloom below with dotted centers, lots of petals and big leaves around them. In the sky you'll spot a sun with pointy rays and three fluffy clouds. Large open shapes suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the petals and seed dots give older children something to chew on. Try yellow and brown stripes on the bee, golden petals on the flowers and light blue wings for contrast. Print the free PDF at home whenever you need a coloring break. This fits right in with our Bee coloring pages — see also Frog and Raccoon.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the three clouds and both wings with sky blue, leaving the background and the sun's rays white.
- 2Color the sun, the bee's round head, its body and all the sunflower petals with golden yellow, keeping the bee's eye shine and the sunflower highlight white.
- 3Color the bee's stripes dark brown and its legs and feet warm brown, then fill the sunflower centers with the same warm brown and add small white dots.
- 4Fill all the leaves and stems with leaf green, working from the bottom of the page upward.
- 5Color one or two petals with pale yellow for a soft highlight, and keep the eye whites and background white.
- 6Optional: add light shading on the bee's body and the sunflower petals with a slightly darker tone of the same color for more depth.
