Thirsty Bee Drinking From a Tulip

Coloring guide
This smiling cartoon bee leans over the edge of a large open tulip and stretches its long tongue down toward the center of the flower. It has big round eyes, two curly antennae with little round tips, a striped body and two large wings held up behind its head. One leg rests on a petal while it drinks. A closed tulip bud stands on a tall stem to the right, and grass blades and broad leaves fill the bottom of the page. Thick, clean outlines and large open shapes make this free printable easy for younger kids. Yellow and black stripes would suit the bee, and soft pink or red would look good on the big petals, with fresh greens for the grass and leaves. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the bee's head, antennae tips, and the two stamens inside the tulip with golden yellow, leaving the eye whites white.
- 2Color the whole tulip, including the back petals behind the bee, with tomato red.
- 3Paint the bee's two wings sky blue, then fill the body stripes alternately with golden yellow and charcoal.
- 4Color the tulip stem and the tall grass blades with bright green, and fill the two bottom leaves with forest green and the lighter leaf with leaf green.
- 5Fill the right tulip bud with rose pink, its tip included, and color the bee's legs and stinger charcoal with a medium gray joint. Optional: add a darker shade along one side of each petal for depth.
