A cheerful little bus with big round eyes and a friendly smile winds down a snowy road, with a pair of skis strapped to the roof rack. Through the windshield you can see a happy child in a pom-pom beanie gripping the steering wheel. Snow-covered pine trees line both sides of the road, and a snowy mountain peak rises in the background. Snowflakes and round snowy dots fill the sky, and a small fence runs along the right edge of the road. Bold outlines and open spaces work for young colorers, and the layered branches on the trees give older kids some detail to chew on. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big red bus body, including the front, sides and roof, using bright red.
- 2Color the mountain and the sky-facing parts of the windows and windshield in sky blue, leaving the snowy peak white.
- 3Fill the pine trees and the grassy hill in forest green and dark green, leaving the snowy branch tips white.
- 4Color the skis in golden yellow and the roof rack straps in orange, then add the child's face in peach skin and the hat and jacket in royal blue and golden yellow.
- 5Finish the wheels in charcoal gray with light gray hubs, keep the eye whites, the smile area and the snowy road white, and add light blue shadows on the road.
- 6Optional: Add a little extra shading with a darker shade of each color along the bottom of the bus and the tree trunks for more depth.
