Ladybug Visits a Butterfly on a Dewdrop Leaf

Sitting upright on a big curved leaf, a cheerful butterfly grins down at a little ladybug that has crawled up next to it. Both bugs have big sparkly eyes and happy faces. The butterfly has two round-tipped antennae, a striped tummy, and large wings with circles and rounded sections to color. The ladybug has a spotted shell and small antennae of its own. Water droplets dot the leaf, and a small tulip bud grows in the bottom left corner. Big shapes and bold outlines make it a nice choice for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or chunky markers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big leaf and the small stem leaves in leaf green, then fill the dewdrops with sky blue and leave their shiny highlights white.
- 2Fill the large butterfly wings with hot pink, then color the outer wing edges royal purple and the inner wing panels lavender.
- 3Color the butterfly's face, body, and tulip bud in golden yellow, add an orange band across the belly, and keep the eye whites white.
- 4Color the ladybug's shell bright red and its head peach, then add dark gray legs and antennae and the black spots.
- 5Finish with the small golden yellow wing dots, purple antenna balls, and pink accents on the wings.
- 6Optional: add a darker shade of each color along one side of the shapes to give them a little depth.
