Coloring guide

A happy young butterfly with big round eyes, a smile and two curly antennae holds onto a hanging chrysalis, one little leg resting on its side. The chrysalis dangles from a knobby tree branch running across the top of the page, with pointed leaves along the branch and one more tucked beside the chrysalis. The big wings are the main challenge. The upper wings are split into long petal-shaped sections, and the lower edges have rows of small circles and dots that suit crayons or fine-tip markers. Soft oranges and yellows work nicely on the wing sections, with deep purple or blue in the dotted borders and a pale jade green for the chrysalis. This free printable fits well with a spring lesson on how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. This fits right in with our Butterfly coloring pages — see also Umbrella and Star.
