Over a quiet pond, a friendly butterfly with big eyes, curled antennae and a happy smile flutters while a little spotted frog grins up at it from a lily pad. The butterfly's wings have large rounded sections and rows of small dots to fill in. Water lilies bloom around them, more flat lily pads float on the water, tall cattails stand on both sides, and rounded bushes line the far bank. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the background bushes, grass and all the lily pads in leaf green, leaving the sky and water areas white for now.
- 2Fill the frog's body and legs with lime green, then add a light pale lime shadow on the lily pad under the frog. Keep the frog's eye whites white.
- 3Color the butterfly's wings: alternate hot pink and orange in the inner panels, and fill the outer wing edges with violet purple.
- 4Add bright yellow dots to the purple wing edges, then color the butterfly's head soft yellow, its body golden yellow, and the antenna tips orange.
- 5Fill the lily flowers with blush pink and light pink, and color the cattails and reeds in chocolate brown and forest green. Color the water ripples sky blue.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker green along the edges of the lily pads and reeds for depth, and leave small white highlights on the grass.
