Smiling Cartoon Steam Engine Facing Forward on Tracks

A cheerful steam engine with a round smiling face looks straight out from the page, drawn head-on. The face has big round eyes, raised eyebrows, a rounded nose, and a wide grin. Behind it you can see a tall chimney, two round cab windows at the top, and a curved roof. At the bottom, a wide front buffer beam holds two solid black round buffers, with a coupling hook hanging in the middle and a small lamp on the left side. The wheels sit on a set of railway tracks with lots of crossties that run toward the viewer. The big flat areas on the engine body are easy for small hands to fill in. Try a bright solid color for the body and a different one for the cab, then use browns and grays for the ties and rails. This free page also works well for talking about the parts of a train.
