Pond Scene with a Cow, Dragonfly and Cattails

Coloring guide
Knee-deep in a rippling pond, a young cow looks right at you with big round eyes, long lashes and a sweet smile. Large patches cover her sides and belly, and a small tuft of hair sits between her little horns. A dragonfly hovers in the upper right corner, tall cattails rise on both sides and a few bushes sit behind her. Water lilies and flat lily pads float up front, and simple ripple lines circle her legs. With bold, clean outlines and roomy shapes, it's a good free printable for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or markers. Pink for the nose and ears, deep brown patches, and blue water with green lily pads would help the cow pop against the scene. - 1Color the cow's head, body, legs and tail in caramel brown, leaving the big patches on its back and sides white.
- 2Fill the ears, nose and udder with blush pink, and the tuft of hair on top of the head with cream.
- 3Color the horns and both cattails chocolate brown, keeping the eye shines and the flower petals white.
- 4Use leaf green for the lily pads and grassy tufts, and light green for the bushes and grass blades around the pond.
- 5Paint the pond water and the ripples around the legs in light blue and pond blue, then add the dragonfly wings in pale blue.
- 6Color the lily flower centers golden yellow. Optional: add a little dark olive green at the base of the reeds and grass for depth.
