Profile Portrait of a Smiling Duck

Coloring guide
Here's a friendly duckling drawn in profile, facing right. It has one big round eye with a shiny black pupil and a curved eyebrow above it. The wide, smiling bill shows a small nostril and a lip line along the bottom. A little tuft of feathers pokes up at the back of the head, and the long curved neck finishes in scalloped, rounded chest feathers. There's no background at all, so the page stays clean, and the thick outlines are easy for small hands to follow. That makes it a nice free printable for preschoolers and early elementary kids working on crayon control. Yellow for the head and body and orange for the bill look great together, and leaving the eye highlight white keeps it sparkling. Kids who like Duck coloring pages usually enjoy Seals & Sea Lions and Reptiles too.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- warm orange
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the beak: fill the upper beak and the lower beak with warm orange using light, even strokes.
- 2Leave the small oval nostril on the upper beak white so it stands out.
- 3Keep the eye white and the small shine spot in the eye white, so the eye looks bright and lively.
- 4Leave the rest of the duck, including the feathers, neck and head, white so the black outlines stand out against the page.
- 5Optional: add a few slightly darker orange strokes along the underside of the beak to give it a little depth.
