Drifting through space in a round glass astronaut helmet, this happy little octopus has shiny reflections on the glass, ear pieces on each side and a collar with three small round lights. Big sparkly eyes and an open smile make it easy to love. Eight curly tentacles stretch out around it, each with rows of little suction cups to color one at a time. A crescent moon sits at the top left, a small rocket blasts off at the top right, and stars and tiny dots are scattered over the page. Shapes are large and lines are clean, so this free printable works well for preschoolers and early elementary kids. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the octopus body, head, and all eight tentacles in lavender purple, leaving the eye whites and the small highlight shine on the helmet glass uncolored.
- 2Fill the helmet glass with pale blue, and color the rocket window the same way, keeping the bright white shine spots on the glass.
- 3Color the collar band and collar sides with ocean blue and sky blue, then add the little collar buttons in sky blue.
- 4Color the ear pieces on both sides of the helmet in light gray, and the rocket body in snow gray with bright red fins and golden orange flame.
- 5Fill the moon, all stars, and the rocket base with golden yellow and medium gray, then add a coral pink open smile on the face.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker lavender purple shading along the edges of the tentacles and under the head to make the octopus pop.
