Peas in a Pod Vegetable Smiles

Coloring guide
Inside an open pea pod, five round little peas are lined up snugly, and each one has big sparkly eyes, rosy cheeks and an open-mouth smile. The pod runs diagonally across the page, with a curly tendril swirling at the top left and a ruffled stem cap at the top. Two big veiny leaves reach out on both sides. Outlines are clean and bold, and the peas are large enough that small hands can stay inside the lines. Give every pea its own green, like lime, mint and forest green, and make the pod darker so the peas stand out. This free printable is a good fit for preschoolers, a healthy-eating lesson or a quiet moment at the kitchen table. Love this Vegetable coloring page? A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- pale lime green
- medium green
- bright grass green
- deep forest green
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the tendril curl and stem at the top using medium green, leaving the thin outlines clean.
- 2Color both leaves with bright grass green, then the outer pod shell with medium green.
- 3Fill each of the five peas with pale lime green, leaving the faces and small gaps for later.
- 4Use deep forest green for the dark gaps inside the pod around the peas and for the stem tip at the top.
- 5Optional: Add a little darker shading along the edges of the peas and pod for depth, and leave the eyes and smiles white.
