Polar Bear Cub Standing on an Ice Floe

Coloring guide
On a large chunk of ice, a friendly polar bear cub stands with all four paws planted, head tilted a little and a big smile on its face. Fluffy fur lines mark the chest, the legs and the tuft on top of the head, so there's plenty of texture to fill in. Wavy lines around the bear show open water dotted with smaller pieces of ice, and two icebergs rise behind it. Snowflakes and little round snowdots drift across the sky. Big shapes and bold outlines make this free printable work well for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Soft sky blue and lavender suit the water and icebergs. You could leave the bear white or give its fur a pale gray shade, and make the snowflakes sparkly silver or light purple. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- pale ice blue
- sky blue
- baby pink
- cream
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the ice floe and the small floes in the water: color the big ice floe and its front edges with pale ice blue, then fill the darker chunks and edges with sky blue.
- 2Color the icebergs in the background: use sky blue for the mountain-like ice and pale ice blue for their lighter sides and the small floes floating in the water.
- 3Add the bear's inner ears with baby pink, then fill the muzzle with cream for a soft, warm look.
- 4Leave the bear's fur, the belly area, the eye whites and the snowflakes white, as they are in the example.
- 5Optional: Add a few light strokes of sky blue along the ice floe edges and under the bear's paws to give the ice a little depth.
