Right in the middle of a big web, stretched across an iron gate, sits a wide-eyed spider with a fuzzy round head and a huge smile. Its rounded, striped body and long jointed legs spread out over the strands. The gate has curly scrollwork and pointed spear-tip posts at the top and sides. Beyond it stands a spooky old house with a chimney, arched windows and a pointed roof, beside a bare tree. A big round moon and puffy clouds fill the sky, and a winding path heads toward the front. Because the web is made of lots of medium-sized sections, it's a nice pick for kids who like staying neatly inside the lines. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the sun golden yellow and the small cloud beside it sky blue, leaving the rest of the sky white.
- 2Fill the bushes and the tall gate strips with grass green, and add leaf green to the bush at the top right. Color the house roof coral red and the house wall soft orange, keeping the windows white.
- 3Color the spider's face light lavender and the upper and lower body parts in medium purple and deep purple, leaving the eyes and smile white.
- 4Color the spider's legs medium purple, leaving the tips white, then fill the top finials and the gate top rail charcoal gray.
- 5Optional: Add a little darker shading along the edges of the spider's body in deep purple to make it look rounder, and keep the spider web white.
