Cute Round Watermelon Sitting Among Grass Tufts
Coloring guide
Sitting right on the ground, this happy round watermelon has big shiny eyes, little curved eyebrows and a sweet smile. Small tufts of grass are drawn around its bottom edge. A short stem pokes up from the top, and one leaf with a clear center vein curls out beside it. The rind has wavy vertical stripes, which are great practice for little ones following curved lines. Shapes are large and outlines are bold, so it works well for preschoolers and early elementary kids still building crayon control. Classic green stripes in two shades would look good on the rind, with a brighter green for the leaf and stem. A warm yellow-green on the grass gives a nice contrast. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- deep forest green
- pale lime green
- medium leaf green
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the large dark areas: fill the front center section and the far left and far right edges of the watermelon with deep forest green.
- 2Fill the two wide light stripes running down the watermelon and the leaf with pale lime green, leaving thin lines between them.
- 3Color the stem at the top with medium leaf green so it stands out a little from the rind.
- 4Keep the eye whites, the grass tufts at the bottom, and the background white, then add black pupils and smile details if you like.
- 5Optional: add a few light diagonal strokes over the green areas in a slightly darker shade to give the watermelon a soft, textured look.
