Treasure Hunting Octopus in Snorkel and Mask
Coloring guide
Floating above the sea floor, a smiling octopus wears a diving mask and snorkel, with all eight curly tentacles spread wide. Small spots pattern its round head, and its big, bright eyes peek out from behind the mask. Down below, an open wooden treasure chest overflows with coins and a long string of pearls, with a few loose coins on the sand beside it. Two little striped fish swim nearby, and bubbles of different sizes drift up. Tall wavy seaweed grows on both sides, and a starfish and a few rocks rest along the bottom. Tentacle suckers and the wood planks on the chest give kids lots of small spaces to fill, so it suits ages 4 and up. Coral orange for the octopus and golden yellow for the coins and chest trim will make the treasure shine. Free to print for a rainy afternoon or an ocean lesson. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big octopus head, face, body and all tentacles with lavender purple, leaving the eye whites and the small sucker dots white.
- 2Color the snorkel tube and its top bend with lemon yellow, and fill the mask frame and strap with bright blue.
- 3Paint the bubbles and the small fish with pale sky blue, and color the sea grass with leafy green.
- 4Color the treasure chest planks with dark wood brown and the metal bands, handle and corners with golden yellow, then add the coins in lemon yellow.
- 5Fill the starfish with tangerine orange and the rocks and sand mounds with stone gray, keeping the background white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker purple lines along the tentacles and chest edges for a little depth.
