A big, detailed snowflake dangles from a satin bow on a needled pine branch, so this one is a nice pick for kids who want a bit of a challenge. Two pinecones with overlapping scales rest on the branch, one at the upper left and one at the lower right. Two round baubles hang from the twigs, one with horizontal stripes and the other with a dotted pattern. Small stars and tiny circles scatter across the bottom like falling snow. The snowflake has a ring at its center and six rounded arms with lots of space to fill in. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big snowflake with ice blue, leaving the round center circle white.
- 2Color the bow, its ribbon tails and the red bauble bright red, and use deep red for the hanging ribbon strip.
- 3Color the pinecones and the branch stem with warm brown, then use dark brown for the darker lower scales of the pinecones.
- 4Add leaf green and forest green streaks to some pine needles and to the green bauble, keeping most needles white for a fresh look.
- 5Fill the gold cap at the top of the snowflake and the caps on the baubles with golden yellow, then add the yellow stripe and the three stars.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading along one side of the bow and the pinecones to make them look rounder.
