Storytime Lizard Under a Palm Tree

Coloring guide
Story time on a tropical beach: a smiling little lizard sits on a sandy mound and holds an open book in both hands. Big round eyes, a wide grin and a tiny tongue give it a friendly look, and small spots and circles on its head, tail and legs are fun to fill in. A tall palm tree with a striped trunk curves overhead behind it, with spiky fronds and a cluster of coconuts at the top. A couple of round coconuts rest by its foot, and a few grass tufts and pebbles dot the ground. Soft greens and yellows suit the lizard, and bright orange or turquoise polka dots would look cheerful on the spots. Print this free page to add to your growing collection. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the palm leaves and grass using leaf green, coloring the fronds and the small tuft at the bottom left.
- 2Fill the lizard's head, tail, arms, and legs with lime green, leaving the two big eye whites bright white.
- 3Color the palm trunk and the three coconuts with warm brown, working from the bottom of the trunk up.
- 4Use bright blue for the open book covers and the book spine, then fill the lizard's belly and chest with pale yellow.
- 5Add the coral pink tongue and tangerine orange spots on the legs and knee.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the lizard's tail and the edges of the trunk to make them pop.
