Summer Calendar Beach Page: Kids Building a Sandcastle
Coloring guide
Kneeling in the sand, a smiling boy and girl pat the walls of a sandcastle that has three towers, arched doorways and a little flag on top. He wears swim trunks with a tied drawstring, and she has a ponytail and a frilly striped swimsuit. Behind them, ocean waves roll in beneath a bright sun with rays, two puffy clouds and a big beach umbrella. Up front in the sand you'll spot a bucket, a small shovel, a scallop shell and a friendly crab with raised claws. Big clear shapes make this free printable good for younger kids with chunky crayons, and the sand texture gives older kids room for detail. Golden yellow and tan suit the castle, and a bright red crab will really stand out. It would also fit a summer calendar month or a seaside lesson. - 1Start with the sky and sea: color the sun and small clouds with golden yellow and pale blue, then fill the sea waves with sky blue and bright blue.
- 2Paint the boy and girl's skin with skin peach, then give the boy brown hair with chestnut brown and the girl blonde hair with golden yellow.
- 3Color the boy's shorts and the girl's swimsuit with royal blue and coral red, leaving the white stripes and the swimsuit's white frill untouched.
- 4Fill the sandcastle and sandy areas with golden sand and caramel for the windows and door, then color the flag coral red and the bucket sky blue with royal blue rim.
- 5Add the umbrella in coral red panels with white stripes left blank, then color the shovel grass green and the shell lavender purple.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the sand and the sea edges to make the scene pop, keeping the white highlights clean.
