A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background: color the grass and bushes in grass green and leaf green, and the tree in leaf green with bark brown trunk. Keep the sidewalk and the road edges light gray.
- 2Fill the family's clothes: the woman's top in lavender purple, her jeans in denim blue, the man's polo shirt in forest green, and his pants and the boy's shorts in khaki tan. The boy's shirt goes in denim blue.
- 3Color the puppy in golden tan, including its ears, tail and legs, then add a bright yellow tag on the collar and a rose pink tongue.
- 4Paint all the skin areas, including faces, necks, arms, hands and legs, in peach. Give the hair a caramel brown color for the woman and boy, and dark brown for the man. Leave the shoes white.
- 5Add the details last: make the house roofs brick red, the windows light blue, and the mailbox flag bright red. Keep the eye whites and small shine spots white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading in the same color on the puppy and the boy's shirt for depth.
