Three little ducks fly across the sky in a diagonal line, wings spread wide and beaks open like they're quacking happily. The biggest one leads at the top right, and two smaller ducks follow below and to the left. Wing feathers are drawn in neat, layered sections that are fun to color in, and puffy outlined clouds float around them. At the bottom, a calm pond with simple ripple lines sits in front of rolling hills, round bushes, small pine trees and a few grass tufts along the shore. Younger kids can tackle the large open areas, and older kids can spend time on the wing feathers. Sunny yellow ducks, orange beaks and feet, and a soft blue pond would look lovely. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the three clouds with sky blue, leaving their outlines crisp and the sky itself white.
- 2Fill the bodies, lower wings and bellies of all three ducks with lemon yellow, leaving the eye whites white.
- 3Color the upper wings and the small duck's tail feathers with golden yellow to give the ducks some contrast.
- 4Color the beaks and webbed feet orange, adding a little white highlight on the beaks if you like.
- 5Fill the distant hills with leaf green, the bushes and pine trees with forest green, and the grass and shore banks with lime green, keeping the pond white.
- 6Optional: add a few light strokes of darker yellow along the duck wings to suggest feather layers.
