Three striped zebras have come to a small pond on the savanna. The one in the middle bends its head down for a drink, and ripples spread across the water. The two on either side stand tall and look right out at you with big, friendly eyes. Behind them are tufts of grass, small bushes, a wide flat-topped acacia tree, faraway hills and fluffy clouds. Cattail reeds and a few rocks frame the bottom corners. All those bold stripes give kids plenty of shapes to fill, so it works well for steady crayon or marker work. Soft blues and teals suit the rippling water, and warm golden yellows and greens fit the grass. You can print or download it free, no sign-up needed. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the water pool at the bottom and the small clouds at the top left and right, filling them with light blue and leaving the big sky white.
- 2Paint the distant hills and the far-right hills with sky blue, then add sky blue to the deeper ripples in the water.
- 3Color the tree canopy and the round bushes grass green, and fill the reeds in the bottom-left corner with leaf green.
- 4Fill the savanna grass and the open field with golden yellow, including the tufts around the zebras' legs and the reeds at the bottom corners.
- 5Use sandy tan for the rocks along the water, and charcoal gray for the hooves; color the three noses slate gray and the inside of the ears coral pink. Keep the zebra stripes, eyes and manes white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shade of light blue or slate gray along the edges of the water and under the zebras to make them feel more grounded.
