Up in the branches of a big leafy tree sits a wooden treehouse, with a round window over a plank door and a small porch with a railing. A ladder with chunky rungs leans on the thick, textured trunk, and on the right a rope swing with a flat wooden seat hangs from a low branch. Puffy clusters of leaves, each marked with a little oak-leaf shape, surround the house. A few bushes and tufts of grass sit at the base of the tree. Bark lines and wood planks give kids lots of detail to work on, and the big leaf clouds are quick to fill in. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big leafy treetop clusters in light green, leaving the small leaf shapes white.
- 2Fill the tree trunk, branches, and ladder rails and rungs with warm brown.
- 3Color the cabin walls, railing, and door in golden yellow, and the roof in cherry red.
- 4Fill the round window panes with sky blue and keep the space beside the trunk and swing white.
- 5Add forest green shadows inside the canopies and bright grass green on the bushes and grass tufts at the bottom.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of warm brown on the trunk and a little forest green on the shadow side of the leaves for depth.
