Firefighter Squirtle Pal Hosing Down Campfire Logs
Coloring guide
Wearing a firefighter helmet, this smiling little turtle-like character grips a hose with both hands and shoots a big arc of water at a stack of campfire logs. The helmet has a shield badge on the front, and a large spiral swirl decorates the shell. In the background there's a pitched camping tent, a tall pine tree, and a few fluffy bushes. Grass tufts, small rocks, and puddles with water droplets cover the ground. Bold outlines and roomy shapes work for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the swirl shell and splashes give older kids some detail to chew on. Bright red suits the helmet, light blue the water, and warm browns the logs. The free PDF is a good one for classroom time or a rainy day. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background areas: color the grass and bushes in grass green and lime green, then fill the tree in forest green.
- 2Color the turtle's body in lime green, including the head, arms, legs, and hands, leaving the eye whites and mouth details for later.
- 3Fill the belly and feet with soft yellow, then color the shell swirl in caramel brown and its edges in golden brown.
- 4Color the firefighter helmet in fire red and add the bright yellow badge. Use orange for the tent and tangerine orange for its top.
- 5Paint the logs in caramel brown and saddle brown, add the amber orange log ends, and color the hose in charcoal gray with a silver gray nozzle.
- 6Finish with sky blue for the water stream, puddle, and droplets, and keep the eye whites and the sky white. Optional: add a few darker strokes on the logs and shell for depth.
