Twin-Tower Haunted House Mansion with Bats and Full Moon

At the top of a grassy hill stands a tall mansion with two round towers, and a winding path leads straight to its arched front door. The towers have pointed roofs with a scale pattern, and a bird weather vane spins on one of them. Tall arched windows cover the front, along with a brick chimney and a little columned porch over the door. Three bats flutter near a big full moon covered in craters. A bare, twisty tree stands on each side of the house, with round bushes and grass tufts at their feet. An open gate with stone pillars and a spiked fence frame the bottom of the page. Deep purples and blues for the sky and roof will make a bright yellow moon glow. The tower scales are great practice for small, careful strokes. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by coloring the big grassy hill and lawn in light green, leaving the background around the trees and bats white.
- 2Fill the house walls and both towers with light gray, then color the chimney and tower walls in medium gray for contrast.
- 3Paint the roof shingles and the pointed gable roof in royal purple and muted violet, and color the tree trunks in warm brown.
- 4Color the winding path in sandy tan and the gate pillars and bushes in grass green, then add the bats and the stone gate panels in charcoal black and medium gray.
- 5Finish with the glowing windows in golden yellow, leaving small white highlights on the glass, and make the porch roof amber yellow.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading along the bottom of the towers and under the roof to give the house more depth.
