Two Steam Trains With Engines, Cars, and Cabooses

Two black-outline trains sit one above the other, each facing a different direction. The top train has a steam engine on the left with a funnel-shaped smokestack, a small arrow-like whistle, and a cab with a window. Next come a covered car, a long flat car with a low platform, and a cabin car on the right with a square-windowed top and a row of arched windows. The bottom train is a mirror-style version, with the cabin car on the left, two covered cars in the middle, and the steam engine on the right. Every car rides on round spoked wheels, and the engines have a pointed front plow. The large open shapes work well for crayons or markers. Try coloring each car a different color so kids can count the cars, then compare the two trains and spot which cars differ. A free printable like this is a nice fit for a transportation lesson.
