Wolf Looking Back Beside a Fallen Log
Coloring guide
A single wolf stands in profile with its head turned toward us, giving a calm, watchful look straight out of the page. The fur is drawn with lots of short, scratchy strokes, especially across the chest, belly, and thick tail, so there is plenty of texture to work with. To the left, a cut log lies on the ground with visible growth rings on its end and a thin bare twig sticking up from the top. Small tufts of grass and a few ground lines fill in the background, and the sky is left open. Try using several shades of gray, brown, and cream, following the direction of the fur strokes to make the coat look layered. This printable page also works well for a short lesson on wolf habitats, and kids can count the rings on the log while they color.
