Wolf Standing Near Cactus and Small Mouse
Coloring guide
A wolf stands in the middle of a desert scene with its head turned toward us, ears upright and long whiskers drawn around its muzzle. Its fur is shown with lots of short dark strokes, which gives kids plenty of texture to color. Behind it sit a few flat rocks and a small plant with round flowers. On the right is a spiky yucca-style plant with long pointed leaves, and in front of it a round barrel cactus with star-shaped spines. A little mouse crouches on the ground beside the cactus, near the edge of a wavy patch of bare ground dotted with pebbles. Try coloring the wolf in grays and browns, adding light and dark shades along the fur marks. Then talk about desert animals and how a wolf and a mouse might share the same habitat. This free printable works well for a quiet classroom science break.
