Wolf Walking Sideways Looking Over Its Shoulder

A single wolf walks across the page in side view, its body facing left while its head turns to look toward the right. The fur is drawn with short, sketchy strokes along the back, chest, belly and the thick bushy tail that hangs down behind it. Both ears stand upright, the eyes are detailed, and the dark nose stands out on the muzzle. Its legs are mid-stride, with visible toes and claws on the paws. Short ground lines sit under the feet, and there is no other background, so the animal has plenty of room. Try soft grays, tans and creamy whites, and use the fur strokes as a guide for layering colors. It also works well for a lesson on wolf features, like the pointed ears, long legs and thick tail. Print it free and let kids pick realistic or imaginary colors.
